Quick Reference
Running This Encounter
Camels are stubborn, territorial creatures best used as pack animals or desert guardians rather than aggressive combatants. Use them to harass party members, block passages, or force detours through harsh terrain. Their low AC makes them easy to hit, but their decent HP pool means they can absorb some punishment. Consider using multiple camels in groups to create environmental obstacles or defensive positions.
Combat Tactics
Camels primarily use their bite attack and will kick at threats with their hind legs when cornered. They attempt to flee or create distance rather than engage in prolonged combat, making them unpredictable and frustrating opponents. A camel will defend its herd or caravan fiercely but lacks the intelligence for complex strategies.
Environment & Setting
Desert oases, trade routes, nomadic encampments, and rocky badlands where these creatures naturally roam. Camels are particularly effective encounters in arid regions where the terrain itself becomes part of the challenge.
