Player Guide

Cast Blur on yourself or an ally before entering sustained combat to reduce incoming damage through disadvantage on attacks. This spell shines when you expect multiple attack rolls against you, especially from enemies who rely solely on sight (most creatures). Position yourself where enemies must choose between attacking you at disadvantage or focusing on other targets, effectively multiplying your effective hit points. Combine with high AC or damage reduction abilities to create a nearly untouchable defensive layer.

DM Tips

Remind players that Blur is an illusion—enemies with blindsight, truesight, or abilities that ignore illusions ignore the disadvantage entirely; clarify this before combat if such creatures are present. The spell's visual description allows creative roleplay opportunities (wavering appearance, afterimages), which can enhance player immersion while maintaining mechanical clarity.
