Running This Encounter

Crocodiles are ambush predators that rely on stealth and surprise attacks. Position them in water or partially submerged where they can use the environment for cover. They attack with advantage if the target hasn't detected them, and they can use their powerful bite to grapple and drag prey into deeper water. Retreat into water is their primary escape strategy.

Combat Tactics

Crocodiles use hit-and-run tactics, attempting to bite and grapple a single target before dragging them away from allies. Once they've grappled a target, they hold on relentlessly while other party members struggle to help. If badly wounded, they flee into deep water where they have a movement advantage.

Environment & Setting

Swamps, rivers, lakes, and coastal marshes provide ideal hunting grounds for crocodiles. Any body of water with murky depths and vegetation allows them to remain hidden until striking.
