Special Abilities

Keen Smell

The tiger has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Pounce

Running This Encounter

Tigers are ambush predators that excel at using terrain and surprise to devastate unprepared parties. Run this encounter with emphasis on the tiger's exceptional mobility and burst damage potential. Use the environment to set up flanking opportunities and split the party's attention. The tiger's relatively low AC rewards PCs who can land consistent hits, but its decent HP pool ensures it remains a threat for several rounds.

Combat Tactics

The tiger prioritizes using its 40 ft. movement speed to Dash, Disengage, or position for Multiattack advantage. It targets isolated or lightly armored party members with its bite and claws, focusing on dealing maximum damage in the first round. If badly wounded, the tiger attempts to flee rather than fight to the death, using its superior speed to escape.

Environment & Setting

Tigers thrive in jungles, forests, grasslands, and swamps where dense vegetation provides cover for ambushes. Place them in encounters where they can emerge from tall grass, water, or thick trees to surprise the party and dictate initial positioning.
