Daylight
EvocationA 60-foot-radius sphere of light spreads out from a point you choose within range. The sphere is bright light and sheds dim light for an additional 60 feet. If you chose a point on an object you are holding or one that isn't being worn or carried, the light shines from the object and moves with it. Completely covering the affected object with an opaque object, such as a bowl or a helm, blocks the light. If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of darkness created by a spell of 3rd level or lower, the spell that created the darkness is dispelled.

Player Guide
Cast Daylight on an object you're holding or place it strategically to illuminate dark dungeons, caves, or nighttime battlefields where enemies rely on darkness for advantage. Use it defensively against creatures with darkvision by flooding the area with bright light, negating their superiority and potentially forcing disadvantage on their perception checks. In combat, position the light sphere to deny enemy rogues their hide opportunities and prevent invisible creatures from gaining tactical benefit from shadows. Consider casting it before entering hostile territory to control the battlefield's visual conditions rather than reacting mid-combat.

DM Tips
Daylight pierces magical darkness created by spells like Darkness (it doesn't suppress darkness, but bright light prevents the darkness spell's effects in that radius per the rules). Remember that the spell lasts 1 hour, so it's extremely resource-efficient for exploration—consider whether your players are using it primarily for utility before assuming combat value.
