Player Guide

Scorching Ray excels at distributing damage across multiple weak enemies or focusing fire on a single high-priority target. Use it to finish off low-HP enemies while maintaining threat flexibility, and remember that each ray is a separate attack roll, rewarding you even against targets with moderate AC. Position yourself where you can see multiple targets within 120 feet, and consider that missing one ray still allows the others to connect, making it more forgiving than single-target spells.

DM Tips

Three rays of fire create vivid visual feedback—describe the branching flames hitting different targets to reinforce the spell's power. Consider that missing all three rays can feel underwhelming; remind players of partial success when some rays connect.
